Ancient Red Bean Tree

This ancient red bean tree is nearly 500 years old which is also the national first-class protected tree. Since the construction of GULI HONGDOU RESORT, the red bean tree has been carefully and effectively protected. This tree usually bursts leaf buds only in mid-May with magical colors overnight.

In 2001, Baimao Town CPC Committee and People’s Government specially invited experts from Shanghai for consultation, built steel pipe brackets, and installed lightning rods, so that the ancient trees have always been vibrant and youthful. According to records, this ancient red bean tree has only bloomed and fruited three times in its lifetime, the most recent one being in 1932.
